Transporting the 2 Hungarian Yellow Roosters
I hope this finds everyone well & enjoying the remnants of summer. A huge thank you to everyone involved recently in transporting the 2 Hungarian Yellow Roosters from Tracy in Nova Scotia to Elwood's in Quebec, via the thoughtfulness of Paul Meldrum, MacDonald College Farm Mgr.McGill U. on a recent drive to the East Coast. Tracy, they are magnificent fella's, thank you for your extremely kind donation of genetics... alas their ladies have been busy working hard this year so their feather's don't have quite the same glow.
The other pictures were taken by Paul, leaving Nova Scotia & arriving back in QC. Thanks to your family for their patience too.
We'll post their progress on the RBC website & FB page.
Meanwhile.... earlier in the summer: Thanks to Rob Torr from Toronto who drove from Regina to Saskatoon (while he was working there on a performance) picking up a group of newly hatched HY chicks from Roy's to put them on a direct flight toOttawa. Elwood drove from Montreal to pick them up & raised them for a month before Debbie took them on. They're doing well she reports.
All of this constitutes an amazing amount of coordination, time & personal expense.
Lastly and most importantly, thank you Roy. You have given the most, over time, taking the original flock from 'Mac' back to Saskatoon and faithfully keeping them going since the 1960's... and you're still giving!
We shall never be able to repay your kindness. On behalf of Rare
Breeds Canada, thank you with all our heart.

NAGS TO RICHES
Glossy, plump and contented, Roy the Dartmoor pony has just won his class at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
He was just two when he was rescued by the RSPCA in 2010. Four years later he was taken in by Zara Johnstone-Evans and her six-year-old son Toby. Together they have made him into a champion.
Nags to riches: Roy with owner's son Toby Johnstone-Evans after their win at the Royal Windsor Horse Show
'Roy hadn't done much at all when I first saw him in need of a home, but there was something about him that I liked,' Mrs Johnstone-Evans told Horse and Hound.
'I got him for me to show but he was so gentle with my son Toby. They have done so well together, Toby's now telling people Roy is his pony!'
At last week's Royal Windsor Horse Show, Roy, under the show name Pumphill Fandango, was crowned Mountain and Moorland Mini champion.
He later took part in the Supreme Ridden Showing championship in front of The Queen. Mrs Johnstone-Evans said: 'I'm just so proud of him and what he has achieved.'
RSPCA Chief Inspector Cathy Hyde, who heads the charity's equine team, said: 'Royal Windsor is one of the big equine competitions and to win is an incredible achievement. I helped care for Roy when we rescued him so to watch his transformation back then was incredible.' Roy will now take a break at the family home in Surrey before competing at Horse of the Year qualifiers in June.
Mrs Johnstone-Evans said: 'He may be very successful in the show ring, but he's also our family pet. We adore him.' At last week's Royal Windsor Horse Show, Roy, under the show name Pumphill Fandango, was crowned Mountain and Moorland Mini champion
